Malcolm & Marilyn Leggett

Malcolm and Marilyn Leggett are drawn to opportunities to enhance Saskatoon’s quality of life.

“It’s our community and it’s only as good as those who are in it make it. Some people can donate money and others can donation time, and they’re both important,” he says. “A city is only as good as the infrastructure and the facilities we have.”

Transforming Saskatoon’s 66-acre Gordie Howe Sports Complex into a world-class all-season athletic park resonated with the Leggetts as it will benefit thousands of people in our community, of all ages and from all walks of life.

The new track and field facilities, and indoor training centre – the latter crucial during “our tough winters” – are particularly appealing to Malcolm, as he enjoyed track and field as a boy and knew that Saskatoon was missing a good track.

“It’s something that anybody can get into. It doesn’t require a lot of equipment. It only requires some time, exercise and training,” Malcolm says.

The Leggett’s ongoing efforts to give back to our community are extensive, encompassing the advancement of education, health care, the arts and reduction of poverty.

“My wife and I have been blessed in lots of ways,” says Malcolm. “You don’t own money. You only have the use of it. You’ll not be judged by what you have. You will be judged by what you do with it.”
